The FM4040 has been designed to extend the functionality of traditional wired alarm panels into wireless environments. The FM4040 is frequently used in situations where an internal wired system needs to be extended into an external environment or into a difficult to cable internal area.
If the host wired system is designed to comply with PD6662:2004 Grade 2, then the FM4040 will maintain that capability in the extended wireless areas. The unit is designed to work seamlessly with any wired alarm panel. Up to 8 interfaces can be deployed at a single location.

When installed the FM4040 will receive input from the complete range of FM internal and external detection devices. Up to 8 items of detection equipment plus can be individually identified through this interface plus 8 fire, 8 PA and 8 set/unset devices. If the interface knows that the host panel is set, the engineers log within the interface is automatically enabled.
